Wolverine Boots Review

Wolverine is a name that comes up quite often when you’re in the market for a sturdy pair of work boots. They are a fan favorite for a good reason, and you don’t have to look hard in to find positive wolverine boots reviews around the web.

The company has hundreds of styles to choose from under their main umbrella, and you will probably be surprised by some of the other brands they are responsible for. We’ll get to that soon enough, but first, we’re going to tell you why Wolverine is a brand you can rely on.

Why should you trust the Wolverine brand?

When it comes to work boots, Wolverine makes some of the top options around. They have also been doing it for over 100 years, so it’s safe to say they know the boot business better than most.

Boots have come a long way since the late 1800s and Wolverine has been at the forefront when it comes to innovation. The Navy trusted them to make gloves back in the 40s, and we’re pleased to say consumer confidence still doesn’t waver today.

Work boots aside, the company has also produced thousands of Hush Puppies and owns several popular brands including Merrell, Keds, Saucony, and Sperry. They also produce footwear for Harley-Davidson and Caterpillar as well.

MultiShox Technology

One of the unique forms of tech Wolverine bakes into their books is something called MultiShox. This system combines a comfort gel footbed in the heel with individual compression pads across the bottom of the outsole. That branding extends to the insole area as well

It gives you cushion in all the key areas, and the pads return energy from whence it came which puts some extra spring into your step. You will also get some additional support from the comfort flex arch system.

Contour Welt

While we’re on flexibility, their high-end boots utilize a contour welt. It will move “with you” as you go about your day whether you’re walking concrete floors all day long or loading bags of cement into a hopper.

The contour welt system provides flex where it matters and works alongside the MultiShox system to give you more support. The outsoles on these boots are tough and abrasion resistant while the bottoms are built to shed water and oil with ease.

DuraShocks

As mentioned, Wolverine has been around for a while, so MultiShox and contour welts are only a few of their tricks. DuraShocks are another option, and something you will find on the company’s shoes and heavy-duty work boots.

This system uses a cushioned insole, the outsole, and a special plate to keep your feet comfortable and fresh. The sidewalls return energy and handle any bumps in the road while the Wolverine H-Plate assists in that areas as well and gives you plenty of support underfoot.

30-day comfort guarantee

Wolverine’s boots and shoes are built to last, and we’ve already told you how comfortable they are. Well, you don’t have to take our word for it as the company backs up that fact with a 30-day guarantee.

If you buy a pair of the company’s work boots and they don’t feel amazing within the first 30-days, you will get a refund. Not a partial refund, but a full one and there are no questions asked as long as you have the receipt.

Who are Wolverine boots made for?

Do you need boots that will last for years and protect your feet while you’re on the job?

If so, their boots are for you; it’s as simple as that. Whether you need electrical protection, a steel-toe or just a comfortable work boot, Wolverine has you covered, and if you don’t like they fit, you can always take them up on that 30-day guarantee.

Our Favorite Wolverine Boots

Wolverine Raider Boot

Wolverine mens Raider 6' Work Boot Brown 11 M US

The Wolverine Raider W02421 is a leather work boot of average height with a 5.5” shaft. That’s the ideal size when you need flexibility, and this boot provides plenty thanks to the MultiShox insole and a few other fine features.

The Raider boots are slip resistant against oil and other slick substances, but still sport a thick, tough outsole that can take a beating. The 1.25” heel gives you a bit of height, and they come with the company’s contour welt system with a .075” platform.

We think these boots are comfy, and while a safety toe would have been nice, it’s a lightweight boot that performs as advertised. You dig deeper into the Raider W02421 in our guide to the best work boots for concrete if you’re interested and would like to learn more.

Wolverine Buccaneer Work Boot

Wolverine W04822 Men's Buccaneer Dark Brown Steel-Toe EH Waterproof Work Boot - 10.5 D(M) US

The Wolverine Buccaneer won’t help you become a pirate, but they will keep your feet warm and dry regardless of the conditions outside. It’s a great all-around work boot and one that won’t break the bank.

This boot also has a contour welt and the MutliShox system in place but has a completely different style than the Raider. You get additional support and protection around your ankles with the Buccaneer courtesy of some extra padding, and we dig the removable footbed to as well.

It’s a minor, but handy feature if you want to use your own insole.

From the liner that wicks moisture away to the slip-resistant outsole, this boot won’t let you down if you work outdoors. If you work indoors, they will keep your feet cool and add some pep to your step during those long shifts. The boots are available in the usual sizes but in extended widths.

Wolverine Direct-Attach Work Boot

WOLVERINE mens Blade Lx Waterproof 10' Comp Toe Work Boot, Brown, 10.5 US

Whereas our first two options went the MultiShox route, this one has Durashock on the outsole. They’re going to be comfortable, and rest assured you will stay on your feet whether the weather is bad or you work on slick surfaces indoors.

This boot gets its namesake from the way it’s built. The sole is added onto the upper as a liquid where it dries onto the boot. While durable, it’s far from a Goodyear Welt as the sole isn’t sewn on and cannot be replaced.

While that’s a downer, the compression pads across the bottom are not, and the two-tone style of this one brings something different to the table.

This Wolverine Direct-Attach Work Boot is durable and comes with the company’s famous 30-day comfort guarantee. They are sized from a 7 to a 14W or through a size 15 in the D width.
